We had a great day last month launching our new technology. It was a great opportunity to say ‘hello’ to some of our listeners, who we don’t often get to meet face to face.
People had the opportunity to see our new playback machines and be shown how to operate them. There was also an opportunity for guests to have a go at recording their own talking newspaper and take a CD copy of it home with them.
Many people enjoyed a cuppa and a home-made piece of cake at Joan’s Pop Up Cafe, whilst watching a short film showing what goes on behind the scenes at W&DTN. However, the most popular thing was our ‘alternative raffle’, where guests could pick out one of our new memory sticks, play it in one of our new machines and find out via a message on the memory stick whether or not they had won a prize. We had some wonderful prizes donated by the following local companies:
Top To Toe
Fens Falconry
Morrison’s Supermarket
Sacrewell Farm
The Orchard Tea Rooms
Plater Butchers
Lok-Mai Yuen Brooker, Piano Teacher
None of this would have been possible if it hadn’t have been for our Technical Officer, Andrew Neve, who came up with the idea in the first place, and just ran with his vision. He and the rest of the Committee and volunteers worked so hard to make the day the success it was, so we would just like to say a HUGE ‘thank you’ to everyone who contributed in any way.
