We recently held our annual general meeting at St Peter & St Paul’s Church Hall in the centre of Wisbech.
Vice Chairman, Peter, chaired the meeting and welcomed Tony Vale, from the national Talking Newspaper Federation. Peter reflected on what a momentous year it had been for us. We had raised the necessary funding in a mere 3 months of launching our New Technology for Talking Newspaper (TN4TN) fundraising appeal, through the generosity of local organisations and individual donors. This had allowed us to purchase all the necessary new equipment to produce all our recordings in digital format.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to two of our long-serving committee members – Treasurer, Derek & committee member, Joan, although Joan will be continuing as a narrator for the audio newspaper. Mervyn was welcomed as our new Treasurer.
With all the new playback equipment delivered to our listeners the first ever recording produced on USB stick was sent out, via Royal Mail’s free Articles for the Blind postal service, on Wednesday 19 November 2014.
The attached photos show Mervyn, Derek, Joan & Tony Vale at our AGM.
